We know, we know....there wasn't much of a winter here in our local area, BUT thanks to your contributions, your groomers were ready to work magic with whatever fell, whenever it did. Thank you Fred V. and John B. at Harriet, Denis G. at Mendon Ponds, Craig & Mike at Webster and Brian and friends at Durand. This RXCSF Board will continue to meet over the spring, summer and fall months to plan for next year. Please contact us if interested in the details of what's being discussed, what our dreams are, and read the meetings minutes to stay current. And join the meetings, whenever you'd like! Many thanks, the RXCSF Board of Directors, all volunteer: Mike Valleriano (Webster), Robert Kuehl (Greece), Ellen Mallery (Webster), Ann Mangan (Honeoye Falls), Bill Broderick (Perinton), Jason Hettenbaugh (Honeoye Falls), John Giotto (Penfield), Coleridge Gill (Brighton), John Barry (Palmyra), Jim Pamper, (Lima), Gary Denton (Honeoye Falls), Kimberly Douglas,(Honeoye Falls), Marty Maynard (Rochester), Jana Gardner (Mendon) Oh, oh, you REALLY need to watch this mass start of 15,800 people at this month's 88th running of the Vassaloppet in Sweden. Bonus: it's in English! 18 degrees, concrete hard traks. 90K distance that will be finished in ~3hrs 50 min for the winners; way longer for others! http://www.skiclassics.com/content/vasaloppet-2012-full-duration-video A new snowmobile at Harriet Hollister this winter means we need smaller, more flexible skis to allow Fred to make the tight turns there.....and the HFL Ski Swap committee comes thru again to finance their purchase! Thank you for improving the grooming and therefore the cross country skiing at HHS, HFL Ski Swap committee! |
You've seen them in their red jackets, huge white cross on their backs.....in every local skiing park on winter weekends. They're the Genesee Valley Nordic Ski Patrol and they're ready to safely get you out of the woods should a mishap occur, far from the parking lot or road! They're always looking for smiles and thanks....and if so moved, new volunteers to train! Visit their website for more information: www.gvnsp.org Thank you National Ski Patrollers for keeping it safe for us at Harriet & Mendon Ponds Parks!
The silver lining to a light snow winter: first time ALL RXCSF Groomers were able to be in one place for a training session (and photo!) New park to look forward to skiing at: Durand Eastman, where the cart paths around the beautiful and hilly golf course will be rolled and tracked. Click here for Durand trail map. Park at the golf course parking lot and look for trail map brochures. |
