Re-approved, October 2011 Last Updated (Friday, 07 October 2011 16:32) President's Message - August 15, 2010Hello, This is the 1st of the President's messages that we plan to produce during the year. These will likely occur monthly out of season and more frequently in season. I'll introduce myself and the goals that we have for the 2010 - 11 ski season today. A bit about me...I've only been XC skiing a short time - 3 years. I played football and baseball in college. I injured my knee in a football game and took up running as rehab and found it fun and a fabulous outlet as a competitor. Running grew to triathlon where I competed on the US National team & qualified for Ironman Hawaii. I started to get routine lower leg injuries which led me to XC skiing. I became a "regular" at Harriet Hollister; then Fred started bugging me to become a RXCSF member. In the past, I've been a volunteer chairman, president, or VP of a large community service group, the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce, the RATs (Rochester Area Triathletes), and currently run the Webster Youth Triathlon. I'm also a volunteer & groomer for the Webster XC ski team where my kids ski. I was asked to become president in April and readily accepted; the thought of not having well groomed trails or a lack of programming are things that I (WE!) can't let slip. As a highly principled person, I want to teach my kids to be the same; there's no better way to teach than to get involved and demonstrate! 2010 - 11 Foundation Goals...very modest and simple...to "right the ship" financially and prove that we can meet and keep a 5 year plan. This is important...we've put a Scoreboard on "home" and a Donation Thermometer on all pages to keep our progress and be transparent to the membership.
