I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful fall color and the unbelievable stretch of weather we have been having. It’s that time of year where we enjoy our last paddle or long bike ride before we start tuning up the skis for winter. The RXCSF Board has been busy over the summer and recently wrapping up a couple of projects. In this month’s newsletter Anna Gorbold shares some of the signage improvements that we have been working on at Mendon Ponds Park in collaboration with Monroe County Parks. I think you will like the new changes and if all goes well, we hope to do the same at Harriet Hollister Spencer State Recreation Area in collaboration with New York State Parks.
The RXCSF Board has also finished up a draft of our Strategic Plan where we outline our vision statement, short- and long-term goals and objectives for our organization. Once finalized we hope to post it to our website for all our supporters to review.
Jason Hettenbaugh from Rochester Nordic Racing also gives a great re-cap of his summer program with local youth athletes training for the upcoming Nordic ski race season.
Thank you to Darren Leach for keeping the grooming equipment in order and ready for this season. Darren and Zak Burke, our IT coordinator, will also be testing a new grooming conditions idea in the next couple of months. More to come on that in the next newsletter.
Finally, as you prepare for the upcoming season and you realize you need some equipment, don’t forget to stop by the HFL Ski Swap. Details are in this month’s newsletter.
Thank you all for your continued support this year. Enjoy the rest of your fall and we will be in touch soon as the snow starts to fly. Please reach out to me if you have any question, concerns, or comments.
