Snow!!! It’s finally here. I hope everyone has enjoyed some skiing since our first snow on Thanksgiving weekend. I know there isn’t much around currently, but I was just at Harriet Hollister Spencer State Recreation Area this morning and there was enough to do some classic skiing. Just to confirm for everyone, late season hunting is not allowed at Harriet Hollister Spencer State Recreation Area. So get out there and enjoy the snow.

Darren has been busy getting our equipment ready and delivered to the sites. Grooming is beginning at the parks where we have snow but, with rain forecasted at the end of the week and then freezing temperatures after that, we may be on hold for a bit.

I am sure some of you have noticed the new signs out at Mendon Ponds Park. The County Parks staff and RXCSF have collaborated well in getting the new sign project implemented. Anna Gorbold explains a bit more on the project in an article below. We have plans to implement the same signage at all the parks where we groom. We are still coordinating with the New York State Parks to receive approval for the same type of project at Harriet Hollister Spencer State Recreation Area. I am hoping the state approves in time to complete the signage for next season. We will also be looking to install these signs at Durand Eastman Park and Webster Park.

The RXCSF Board has finalized our Strategic Plan where we outline our vision statement, short- and long-term goals and objectives for our organization. It has been uploaded to our website. You can access it HERE.

Jason Hettenbaugh from Rochester Nordic Racing led a large contingent of junior skiers up at Lake Placid this past weekend for the combined NENSA Eastern Cup and Mid Atlantic Junior National Qualifier. You can read more about junior racing in his article below. The Adirondacks are beautiful right now with lots of snow. Let’s hope the rain this week doesn’t completely ruin it.

If you would like to support RXCSF this season, please go to our website here to make a tax-deductible donation. As always, thank you to everyone who has supported RXCSF. I wish everyone a happy holiday season and happy new year. I look forward to seeing you all out on the trails. Please reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, or comments.
